Over 170,000 residents live along the banks of the Tennessee River in
Chattanooga. Perhaps most well-known for the song and the train
which inspired it, the town has built an entire tourist attraction around
the famous Chattanooga Choo Choo, including restaurants, shopping, one of
the world's largest HO-gauge model railroads, and even a hotel with train
car rooms. Other railroad-themed attractions include the Tennessee
Valley Railroad Museum and the Incline Railway, which reaches a grade as
steep as 73% near the top of historic Lookout Mountain. Several
growing arts districts and the Hunter Museum of American Art contribute
to local culture, and family activities include the Lake Winnepesaukah
amusement park, Creative Discovery Museum, and Tennessee Aquarium.
